Who can attend

The Private Rented Service office a range of free landlord training sessions and other events.

Any landlord or managing agent who owns or manages one or more property in Newcastle upon Tyne can access these events for free.

In addition, we can choose to offer places to any landlord or management agent who has a CPD with another Local Authority but lives in or near Newcastle and cannot easily access CPD sessions provided by their own LA.

As places are limited we do ask that landlord adhere to our fair use and cancellations policy.

Fair use

We allow landlords to attend one session of each available title per 12-month period for free.

If a landlord wishes to repeat a specific session within a 12-month period, we reserve the right to pass on a standard charge of £75 per delegate.

Non attendance charge

We allow delegates to cancel up to 24 hours in advance of the session.

Delegates can cancel via email, telephone or by cancelling their place on Eventbrite.

We send a reminder before each event and remind delegates to let us know if they can no longer attend allowing ample time to let us know if a delegate can no longer attend.

If you miss and fail to cancel 3 sessions (including online, in-person, conference/ larger events), we reserve the right to pass on the standard charge of £75 per delegate for each non-attendance, including non-attendance as part of a joint booking.

You will receive a warning letter after missing and failing to cancel 2 events, detailing that a further failure to attend or cancel will result in a fine being applied.

If you fail to attend or cancel a subsequent event, you will receive another letter explaining that a £75 fine will be invoiced to you.

Training start times, attendance and admittance

Training will open at the stated time on your booking and confirmation information, unless you are advised otherwise by our service. All training sessions will allow 5 minutes for arrivals with the presentation itself beginning promptly 5 minutes after the start time. If you arrive after the advertised start time you may not be admitted. This is to avoid disruption to the training already in progress and to make sure that those attending training are receiving the full content.

If access is granted, those who do not attend the full duration of the training session may not be awarded any CPD hours.

For online events, the link to join is sent out a week in advance and also again two days before the training takes place. It is your responsibility to check that you have the link to join before the session starts and to chase this up with us before the session if you have not received the link.

If you have issues accessing online training, you must contact us at the earliest opportunity via privaterentedservice@newcastle.gov.uk to see if we can assist you.

Please be aware that failure to turn up on time and leaving early without notifying us, will be counted as non-attendance and will fall under our non-attendance policy.
