Thank you to those who joined us at our Landlord Conference on 9th June. It was great to see so many of you in attendance once again. The day was packed with lots of great updates and information from our fabulous speakers. Topics ranged from the Renters' Rights Act to Leasehold Reform. Summaries and slides from each can be found below.
Starting the day off, we heard from Steven Bletsoe, Head of Regional Business for the NRLA. Steve covered information on what has changed so far with the implementation of the Renters' Rights Act on 1st May. He also provided updates on changes to the HHSRS, discussed what is next on the RRA implementation timeline, and provided information on how EPCs and rules around them are set to change.

Next up we had Victoria Valentine, Business Development Executive from Landlord Action. Victoria gave us an update on how evictions have changed since the Renters' Rights Act came into force and what to keep in mind if you are considering evicting your tenant with a section 8.

Before lunch we heard from Martin Wardle, Director of TH Ward. Martin provided attendees with updates on all things tax. This included information on Making Tax Digital, what you need to be aware of and how this changes tax reporting.

After lunch, Lauren Halbert, Domestic Sales Manager from Envirovent, took us through a mould and condensation workshop. She explained how condensation occurs and what impact this has on properties. She also provided options for reducing issues in your properties and how best to ensure adequate ventilation.

Our next speaker was Shahar Sadat, Solicitor from Sweeney Miller. He explained the changes brought in by the Leasehold and Freehold Reform Act 2024. He looked at issues with the current system and key milestones in the implementation of this act. He looked at what the act is trying to achieve and why the implementation has been slower than originally thought.

To finish the day, Bruce Haagensen from GB Landlords was our final speaker. He covered actions needed for tenancies under the new Renters' Rights Act legislation, key points to remember, and the use of ground 4a for student tenancies.
