Please note this consultation is now closed - We want your views on plans to improve housing standards in privately rented homes.

Newcastle City Council is consulting on re-designating Selective Licensing Schemes for private rented accommodation in Byker and Greater High Cross.

Before we can introduce a licensing scheme, we have to show why we think this kind of scheme is needed, what kind of problems it is trying to tackle and why we think Selective Licensing is the only option left. We must consult with all affected people, such as tenants, residents, landlords, managing agents, businesses, charities, Police, Fire Service, local councillors etc. It is very important that we gather as many views as possible and that we give proper consideration to these views.

To make sure that we consult fairly we are using a variety of methods to reach stakeholders, these include on-line questionnaires, and virtual events and workshops.

The formal consultation process is ending on Sunday 31st January 2021, so don't delay make sure you have your say!

During this time an online consultation survey will be available online via
