All landlords should be checking that the tenants you rent their property to have a legal right to rent property in the UK.

You should check all tenants aged over 18 that you know will be living in the property (even if they are no named on the tenancy agreement).

You should make sure you check original documents, making reasonable effort to ensure that they are genuine and belong to the person presenting them to you and you should take copies of any documents for your records.
